— Great Falls Village was a busy place on Sunday, Nov. 20, as Great Falls Youth Rugby hosted its third, annual tournament to benefit the spinal cord injury research and recovery programs at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network. The President of Great Falls Rugby is himself a spinal cord injury survivor.

Sunday’s tournament was a youth 7-a-side tournament for all age groups U7 through high school. A number of D.C., Maryland and Virginia youth, middle school and high school teams registered. The fun started at 9 a.m. and went all day. Great Falls U7 won their age group.

Great Falls Youth Rugby thanks the community for coming out to support players, as well as sponsors and vendors: Cuisine Solutions, Strang Orthodontics, Glory Days, Kiwi pies and Buenda’dillas.

Great Falls Rugby, founded in 2011, is a 501c3 non-profit organization and has seen registrations surge after the sports appearance in the 2016 summer Olympics.

Sunday’s tournament signifies the end of the 2016 rugby season. But, there will be indoor clinics during the winter and the club is looking forward to the 2016 season. Registration and playing opportunities exist year round and the Eagles are always looking for opportunities to promote the club throughout the Herndon, Great Falls, Reston, McLean and Sterling areas.
