Victim of Silver Diner Crash Dies from Injuries

According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Andrew Sheren, 74, of McLean died from complications resulting from injuries he sustained in the crash. Sheren was the man struck while walking into the Silver Diner - according to FCPD Public Affairs Bureau.

At this time, the driver of the striking vehicle remains under the care of a local hospital. Warrants will be served upon his release in coordination with detectives on the United States Marshal’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF).

Detectives of the Major Crimes Division obtained arrest warrants for Malicious Wounding and Felony Destruction of Property. During the initial investigation, it was determined that the driver allegedly intentionally drove his SUV into the building multiple times. When doing so, he struck a 74-year-old man from McLean that was entering the business. Then, he was observed pouring liquid on his body and lighting himself on fire while inside the vehicle.
